We have clinical volunteer opportunities for Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Dentists, and Dental Hygienists.

Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants

If you would like to volunteer or serve as a phone consult for our Mon-Fri evening Medical Services, please email medsection.coords@berkeleyfreeclinic.org.

If you are a gay/bisexual man and you would like to volunteer with our Gay Men’s Health Collective on Sundays, please email coords_gmhc@berkeleyfreeclinic.org.

If you are trans and/or a woman and you would like to volunteer with our Saturday Services, please email ssscoords@berkeleyfreeclinic.org. Saturday Services utilizes one onsite “Shift Professional” every weekend to oversee pap smears and pelvic exams.

The Street Medicine Team is seeking medical providers of all genders to assist with their drop-in STI clinic, held every Wednesday evening from 7-10 PM. Providers assist medics in assessing symptomatic clients and are asked to volunteer one Wednesday a month. Volunteering in-person is ideal but being available for phone or video consultation is also a possibility. E-mail smtcoords@berkeleyfreeclinic.org for more information.

Dentists and Dental Hygienists

If you are interested in giving back to your community while also having an opportunity to hone your skills, practicing at the Berkeley Free Clinic Dental Section may be for you. The clinic is open during the evening on weekdays and has an extremely flexible schedule. Whether coming in one night a month or twice a week, the volunteers at the clinic are more than willing to work with you and your schedule. All that is required to become a volunteer dentist or a hygienist at the clinic is to be licensed in the state of California; malpractice insurance is covered by the clinic. We are sufficiently stocked, staged, and staffed to perform most general dentistry procedures that we offer which range from dental examinations to extractions.
