Wednesday Night Sexual Health Clinic
For clients of all genders
Overview
Our Wednesday Night Sexual Health Clinic provides comprehensive STI services to clients of all genders. Services are drop-in only, from 7-9pm every Wednesday night at 2339 Durant Ave.
Who We Serve
Services are available to people of all genders age 12 and up. We can see clients for routine STI testing, concerns about STI symptoms, known exposures to STIs, or treatment for positive tests at other clinics. We're also able to see clients with suspected urinary tract infections (UTIs).
Current Services
STI testing: Our routine STI panel includes testing for chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, trichomonas, HIV, and hepatitis B and C. Depending on symptoms, we can also test for herpes, mpox, yeast, bacterial vaginosis, and mycoplasma. We are unable to test asymptomatic people for herpes.
STI symptoms: Our symptomatic services include a more detailed intake and consultation with a physician, physician's assistant, or nurse practionier. We can serve clients with a range of symptoms but if we determine your concern is not caused by an STI we may have to refer you to a primary care clinic.
STI treatment: We are able to treat most STIs for free. Treatment is offered to clients who test positive with us, who tested positive at another clinic, who have a known exposure to certain STIs (chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and trichomonas), or if one of our medical professionals advises it. We can treat acute herpes outbreaks but do not provide ongoing suppressive treatment for herpes, and we can treat external but not internal anal/genital warts. Clients needing treatment for HIV or viral hepatitis are referred to a primary care clinic.
Vaccines: We provide free vaccines for seasonal influenza, hepatitis A, and hepatitis B. Our Gardasil (HPV) vaccine program is currently on hold due to rising costs of the vaccine.
Pregnancy testing and emergency contraception: We can provide urine and serum pregnancy testing, emergency contraception (Plan B), and referrals to abortion clinics and prenatal care clinics.
Emergency PrEP refills: We do not provide ongoing PrEP (preexposure prophylaxis) for HIV prevention – however, we can provide emergency refills and labs if you've run out of medication and help get you linked to a free or low-cost PrEP provider.
What to Expect
Clients coming for a routine STI test can expect their appointment to last about 20 minutes. Clients who have symptoms will have a longer appointment that may take up to an hour, depending on what symptoms they are experiencing.
Our clinic is entirely staffed by volunteers. We try to see clients as quickly as possible in the order of arrival, but may need to prioritize clients who have symptoms, positive test results, or other urgent medical needs. Usually, you will be seen within 1-2 hours of arrival. We do not usually turn anyone away but coming earlier guarantees you will be seen that night.
