Saturday Services Section
Saturday Services is committed to comprehensive and culturally competent care for individuals who do not identify as cisgender men (this includes trans individuals, women, and gender non-conforming individuals).
Saturday Services focuses on the genitourinary and reproductive health of individuals who do not identify as cisgender men. With an emphasis on client-centeredness and client-empowerment, the volunteer lay health care workers of Saturday Services work to provide education, information, and free services for the following concerns:
Asymptomatic (routine) STI testing
Testing and treatment for Urinary Tract Infections
Testing and treatment for symptomatic STI concerns
Pap smears and pelvic exams for certain symptomatic STI concerns
Pregnancy testing
The Saturday Services training consists of classes taken on weekends over the course of a four-month time period. Classes emphasize various sexual and reproductive health concerns, in addition to competency regarding specific gender, race, and orientation experiences of health.
Saturday Services accepts volunteers of all genders except individuals who identify as cisgender men.
Healthcare Professionals Interested in Volunteering
Saturday Services utilizes one “Shift Professional” onsite every weekend to oversee pap smears and pelvic exams. If you are a non-cisgender male doctor, nurse, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or other healthcare professional interested in volunteering your time, please email ssscoords@berkeleyfreeclinic.org for more information. Thanks!
