services
Available services for eligible clients are as follows:
Free over-the-counter reading glasses*
Free prescription glasses (valid spectacle prescription is needed) made in accordance with ANSI standards*
Vision screening with services that may include some or all of the bulleted services listed below, performed and/or supervised by a licensed optometrist. Notably, this exam is not a complete eye exam for purposes of obtaining a prescription for eyeglasses or contact lenses**

*Please note that each client is limited to one pair of reading glasses or one pair of prescription glasses per person per year.
Vision Screening Note
**The vision screening does not take the place of a complete eye examination, which includes a full vision and ocular health examination to check for diseases including but not limited to glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration. Because of this no written eyeglass or contact lens prescription will be made available in accordance with CA Civil Code 1714.26
How to Access
AVAILABILITY
If you are eligible, please visit the clinic during the vision services hours. Current hours are on generally on the first and third Wednesday of each month between 6pm and 8:30pm.

Eligibility
To qualify for services, you must fall in to one of the following categories:
A veteran of the armed forces
An adult (18 years old and older) in a household with total annual income at or below, 138%of the federal poverty guideline ($16753 for a household size of 1 as of 2018)
An adult (18 years old and older) receiving Medi-Cal or county health benefits
Process for Prescription glasses
For prescription glasses, please bring a valid spectacle prescription. Frame selection and lens measurements will be performed, and spectacle orders will be ready for pick-up by the next Mindful Eyes event (approximately 2 week processing time).
If you are unable to obtain a spectacle prescription, you will be referred to a community eye care professional or receive a vision screening through Mindful Eyes (determined on a case-by-case basis).
