The Clinic During COVID-19
As many of you know, the BFC has been organizing for the past 2 months and hitting the streets to provide essential services to unhoused folx. We are so pleased to announce that the BFC is now a referral source for Alameda County isolation housing!
The BFC is a part of the Berkeley Outreach Coalition (BOC). The BOC centralized form links unhoused clients to Lifelong Clinic, Suitcase Telemedicine Providers, supplies across BOC, & BFC’s remotely operating services! Advocacy efforts through BOC conducted a large-scale email campaign and attended two city council meetings for public comment to advocate for a moratorium on sweeps and tows.
Our grant application efforts by the Funding team have led to over $12,000 available for rapid response community aid.
Last Wednesday was the 7th consecutive Wednesday that our Distribution teams have gathered and distributed meals, hygiene products, and harm reduction kits to the unhoused members of the community. Major shout out to the many BFC volunteers and other mutual aid groups in the East Bay pulling this off!
Our Food Distro team distributes 860+ prepared meals, 250 bags of groceries, and 960+ bottles of water to houseless folks every week!
Our Water Distro team has installed and maintained hand washing stations that we service with a mobile water pump to provide clean water regularly.
We are consistently making 100 personal protective kits every week.
We held 3 tent drives and received donations of ~ 100 sleeping bags, 50 tents, 15 sleeping pads, and 10 tarps. We also purchased durable, fireproof, weather-resistant tents for distribution using a COVID-19 UCSF grant.
We are so grateful for the enormous support from our volunteers, community members, partners, and donors that continue to make people-power possible.
