Services during COVID-19
If you are experiencing an emergency or require urgent care, please call 911 or go to the nearest hospital. We are a volunteer-run collective operating at minimum capacity at this time, and cannot provide time-sensitive emergency services.
COVID-19 Update
Due to the community spread of COVID-19, our services have been modified. We are offering limited in-person services. Some of our medical and counseling appointments are only available over the phone.

Outreach Team
Volunteers will be handing out hot meals, hygiene supplies, and harm reduction items (e.g. glass pipes/clean needles/Narcan) to folks in need.

TB (Tuberculosis) Skin Tests
TB Skin Tests (TST)
We offer in-person walk-in appointments for free TB skin tests (TST). You must be able to return 48 or 72 hours later (Wednesday or Sunday evening, depending on your skin test day) to get your results read.
Due to the high demand of TB tests, we respectfully request that individuals with access to primary care services request their TB exam through their primary care practitioner. This service is open to everyone; however, we want to prioritize those who are housing insecure and/or uninsured.

How to Access
When you arrive at the clinic, you will be asked to fill out the intake form below. You can choose to fill it out before you arrive to help ease the check-in process. Appointments are first come first serve. Filling out the form ahead of time will not put you ahead of others who arrive at the clinic earlier.

Referral specialists will help you access our clinic's services or connect you with suitable local resources (e.g. healthcare and social services) that meet your needs.

Peer Counseling
Free, confidential phone sessions with peer counselors trained in active listening.

How to access
For clients of any gender or gender nonconforming clients:
Walk-in services are available on Wednesday evenings between 7 pm and 9 pm for asymptomatic STI testing and for treatment upon positive results.
Alternatively, submit an STI Service request form if you are experiencing acute symptoms, were knowingly exposed to an STI, or would like a routine STI screen. Appointments are typically available Fridays at 7:00pm and 8:30pm.
For cisgender women, trans clients of any gender, or gender nonconforming clients, please submit a Saturday Service appointment request to:
Schedule an in-person exam for UTI or urogenital symptoms on select Saturdays of the month
Receive a telehealth appointment on the following Saturday between 10am - 12pm for STI screening
For cisgender men, trans clients of any gender, or gender nonconforming clients:
In-person services are available on Sundays between 4pm and 8pm. We see symptomatic and asymptomatic clients by appointments. Limited drop-in services are available for urgent needs when no appointments are available. Telehealth is available by special request only.
Urinary Tract Infection Testing and Treatment

How to access
Submit a Saturday Service request form to schedule an in-person exam for UTI or urogenital symptoms on select Saturdays of the month.
Eyeglasses and Vision Screenings
We offer the following services to eligible clients:
Free over-the-counter reading glasses (no prescription needed) or free prescription glasses (valid prescription required). Eyeglasses services are subject to an annual limit.
Limited vision screening services (not a substitute for a complete eye exam).
Availability
If you are an eligible client, please visit the clinic on the first or third Monday of each month between 6pm and 8pm.

Dental Services
Generally, the Berkeley Free Clinic provides dental care to a limited number of individuals who enter and win the monthly lottery. Dental section prioritizes seeing patients who are uninsured, unhoused, and low-income.
The dental section also separately provides services to selected refugees or asylum-seeking immigrants who do not have access to Denti-Cal or other forms of dental coverage (please apply using the Application for Friday Night Dental Services: Immigrants & Refugees).
